Amhara Capital (photos)

Post by Monk-of-Mogadishu »

This is the key city of the Amhara ethnic group in Ethiopia, not a massive city - roughly the size of Somalia's Beletweyn, perhaps even smaller. Imagine if even a fraction of the urban development happening in arid cities like Bosaso or Hargeysa was happening in riverside cities like Beledweyn or Jilib, hell even if you took the level of development in a small city like Garowe and put it in Jilib it would look light-years ahead and resemble Bahir Dar somewhat---I guess until the south gets civilized we'll have to get used to Somali-built mansions and glass buildings being relegated to a few arid cities and Mogadishu, even though they're simple things I honestly can't even fathom a 3-bedroom villa in Jilib or a glass-front hotel in Baidoa or Kismayo. :|

Enjoy.

Bahir daar was known to be a malaria infested town!
Now its, in ethio standard, a big modern city!
It is one of the benefits Gojjamiis gained from Mallas!
Thinking that Showa Amharas from North Showa should travel to Bahr Daar for administration/business cracks me up :D
If only u guys can imagine how showa Amharas used to despise Gojjamee Amhara....but know Showa Amhara should cross the nile and go to Gojjam give sirs to the funny Gojjee :D

Can you imagine this is low standard infrastructure in the Amhaara Capital if the Federal Provincial capitals of Ethiopia look like this now how will it look like in 10 to 20 years time. Not a single Somali city Looks Close to what Monk posted Not even Djibouti even though they get very close , And its not even the buildings its far better organized. But i think in the next 10 years Hargeysa bosaaso Will look like Something like this and inshallah even better
