Turkey's PM says not be silent over famine-fit Somalia
Appearing at live broadcast of ATV channel after his arrival from Somalia, Erdogan said he was really saddened to see the situation in Somalia.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that Turkey could not remain silent against the situation in Somalia.
Appearing at live broadcast of ATV channel after his arrival from Somalia, Erdogan said he was really saddened to see the situation in Somalia.
"Thousands of children die there. As mothers and fathers we can not remain silent to the situation there," he said.
Erdogan said, "some people ask what I was doing in Somalia as there are many poor people in Turkey. One can not appreciate value of Turkey before you see Somalia. The situation there can not be compared with anywhere."
Erdogan said Turkish Health Ministry would first of all establish six field hospitals in Somalia at the first stage, noting that mobile kitchen stoves would be sent by ships to burn the garbage.
"Similarly, mobile kitchens will be shipped to Somalia to meet their food need. Turkey's Housing Development Administration (TOKI) will put up houses for people of Somalia," Erdogan said.
