Another 1969 dictator who seized power in a bloodless coup is deposed. The people in Tripoli celebrate the fall of the regime and have no idea what is in store for them.

The Libyan USC have struggled to get to Tripoli but how will they fare governing the country. I pray that they don't fight each other and show mercy to their opponents who should also surrender peacefully and realize that they lost instead of trying to stage a comeback or undermine the new victors.

First, Siyaad Barre's war with Ethiopia was JUST. He was stopping Mengistu's brutal, savagery occupation of Somali Galbeed. He went there to rescue Somali Galbeed and bring it back to Somali hands. Somalia's military reached all the way to Dire Dawa and controlled portions of it. The only reason why Somalia lost that war was due to Soviet Union involvement. They would've bombarded Mogadishu and completely occupy the entire country of Somalia, hadn't Siyaad Barre retreat from Somali Galbeed.

At least give Jalle Siyaad the credit of standing up to Ethiopia and making Mengistu beg for mercy.

Siyaad Barre was funding and equipping the WSLF from 1975 to 1988. In 1988, Siyaad Barre and Mengistu signed a Peace Treaty. They both agreed to STOP funding and equipping the WSFL (from Somalia side) and SNM (from Ethiopia side).
