Fast food franchises in Somalia
Seeing as how everybody's now talking about the future prospects of Somalia, what do you guys think of having fast food franchises set up businesses in Somalia? Given that the food is 100% halal, would you mind having McDonalds, KFCs and Pizza Huts in places like Mogadishu, Hargeisa and Bosaso?

We need domestic homegrown enterprises that will grow to operate abroad and bring hard currency into the land.

It'll only do well if its hilib based.. Marka the best thing to do it make/open your own fast food chain.
Make it camel based.. It'll go down a treat.. and than franchise it around the Middle East..

You're right, chicken wouldn't sell in Somalia. But the thing about starting a new fast food chain is that it costs a lot more to startup as opposed to paying a lump sum to start a franchise; but I bet that'll be really expensive too since it's Somalia. As well, having multinational companies set up in Somalia can attract more investors as well. Insha'Allah when Somalia is stable there should be a mix of domestic businesses and international businesses as well.WestLdnShawty wrote:It'll only do well if its hilib based.. I'm sure almost all fast food mega chains started off as small little shops..bariis567 wrote:You're right, chicken wouldn't sell in Somalia. So it's okay to eat at McDonalds and KFC in the West, but the moment someone wants to bring it to Somalia, everyone turns all health-conscious

I should probably start as a little sambusa hut and work my way up
Btw does anyone know how much it costs to import industrial items to Somalia? The kinda stuff you would find in a restaurant.

I thought of that in the past but I do find Somalis to be extremely hot tempered for the slightest thing so the idea of healthcare franchise business esp in medicines that makes people calm down is so appealing to moi...imagine the whole Somali nation to be your clients...the possibilities.

That is a really good idea, but the start-up is really expensive; you gotta find doctors, nurses, buy supplies and medical instruments. The cost of running one clinic would be crazy. But who would you target? The Somali elite?Navy9 wrote:I thought of that in the past but I do find Somalis to be extremely hot tempered for the slightest thing so the idea of healthcare franchise business esp in medicines that makes people calm down is so appealing to moi...imagine the whole Somali nation to be your clients...the possibilities.

Turkish and Iranian fast food franchises are welcomed in Mogadisho, any other western crap can go elsewhere.
