Oil exploration on property

Post by FAH1223 »

My awoowe left in his will property he owns in the Nugaal area, he bought the property in the 1960s when he was part of the preliminary expeditions around Somalia that tested for oil.

With these companies coming into drill, where does that leave someone like my father who inherited it? We got all the documentation... and i think they're drilling near where our fam owns it

Everybody wants to get a share of the oil money! :(

If the documents you are talking about are legit and the Puntland government recognizes it, after all 1960 is long time ago, then you father should have no problem and he will surely get the property that he inherited from this father. However, if the Puntland government does not recognize it, well tough luck!

TWIST: How would you sue the government of Puntland or the oil companies? where would you go to sue them? TFG? They have no jurisdiction in Puntland :lol:

@Amilla:

What? You can't take the government to a court?

Isn't there a Supreme court that's independent from the government? :?

Dude, I am not saying they wouldn't. I am just saying if the documents are legit I don't see why they shouldn't recognize it. There are so many Somalis that own and brougt properties in Puntland you would be suprised. Puntland is fair to all the people who live there. So, where is this property you speak of? in Garowe or some tuulo around Garowe?

Twist: There is a supreme court in Puntland. But if th document's legitimacy is in question, I doubt they can do much for people. We all know how Somalis love to forge things.

Property rights are pretty much sacred in Puntland. There are thousands of Xawaadle who run businesses from Gaalkacyo to Bosaso; PL gets all of its veggies & fruits from Hiiraan alone and reer Hiiraan do all of their business through Bosaso Port. So, if your grandfather does own land, then he has all the right to it and no one can challenge it. Not only is it an agreement between clans but its also a local tradition to respect private property.

he was part of the early oil exploration before the 1969 revolution and bought property back in the day...which was a good idea because after the revolution, all the private enterprise pretty much stopped
