Check out Somalia's only presidential library

Post by Voltage »

Online at: http://jaallesiyaad.com/

In time it would be turned into a physical project but as of now it is online and contains massive amounts of historical artifacts dealing with post-colonial Somalia during governance. Something there for everyone whether a politics/history buff or not.

For example here are speeches by President Siyaad (AUN) teaching Somalis the modes and methods of neo-colonialism:

BV do you understand what a Presidential library is? Every president in the US has one. It is just a record of their time in office, from their speeches, writings, meetings, events, etc. Each of their libraries is named after them. Obviously Siad's presidential library would be named after his popular name, Jaale Siyaad.

Presidential library isn't meant to be objective or subjective. It doesn't explain anything, it keeps a record.

So every American president has a library that paints the rosiest picture possible of their time in office? Objectivity and full disclosure are unnecessary?

I think you need to learn up on what a presidential library is but generally yes, it is made with the support of either him or his supporters and is an official record of his time in office.

That site does have a lot of interesting information on Maxamed Siyaad Barre.

It's not an objective website but then again it doesn't say it is either.

Okay if that is the case then good job.

In my experience libraries are supposed to be something different but Americans are special in a lot of ways.

Not just on MSB but as well Somalia in the past which is why I wanted to bring to the attention of Snetters interested in getting some access to historical artifacts.

Salah, I'd say leave them to it. If we could stay out of each others way it would make things much easier.

Why? Is there any doubt that MSB was a leader and a half? puting aside all the atrocities commited during his reign with the help of all clans.

I am Isaq through and through and as a Isaq i hold no bad feelings toward the man despite the crimes he has commited against my Isaq clan, because alhamdulilah we have bounced back and for over the past 20 years since his departure Somalia has descended to new levels of savagery that could have never been reached under his rule.

So all in all when one look at the history of Somalia over the past 40 years, its fair to say MSB was a God-send.

Ilaahay ha u naxariisto because its only HE that the man is answerable to now. No need to keep going on about the past especialy when a lot has happened sinec.
