Also, I realized that beesha Jareerweyn, be it African or African-American, is always apprehensive towards skinnies; they all seemed a bit shy or apprehensive towards me - smiles turned into frowns and some began murmuring their words towards me.

REMEMBER MONK, YOU ARE A DESCENDENT OF THE GREAT MAJEERTEEN SULTANTE!Monk-of-Mogadishu wrote:Last week I approached a group of African students, turned out to be 4 Ugandans and a Guinean, and I find out something interesting about their motives. Of the 5 of them, 4 were studying something related to policy, the last one was studying Communication - but even that can be used in a government setting. Unlike your typical qurba-loving Somali, these students, most of whom live/work full-time in the US, had no interest in the American dream or working a civilian desk job. One was studying Pollution Control, the other was studying Environmental Policy, another was studying Public Health Management, and the last was studying Urban Planning. Compare this to a group of 5 Somali students, you'd likely have 2 computer science majors, a finance student, and your token medical students - none with intentions for their native country for the foreseeable future.
