.....get recognition? I am reer Muqdisho i really want SomaliLand to become a country and get the recognition that reer Somaliland deserve. But that seems impossible without the support of all Somali people in horn of Africa. So my brothers and sisters from all over the world let's support Somaliland forget about clan ( Qabiil ) and let's help Somaliland recognition

A better question is why do people behave as if their opinion about this issue actually matters? If the world wanted Hargaisa to become a seperate country then it would have recognized it a long time ago. It is not Somalis that in the way. My personal opinion is that midnimo makes us all strong if we are all honest about it and possibly worse if not.

Northern Somalia is part of Our Country. It will always remain part of our Country. We already Lost Djibouti by Mistake. That is enough Pain for us.

No Somali ever blocked Hargeysa's ambitions, the Hargeysians never once tried to negotiate with Somalia in the first place - they fail to understand that only Mogadishu can recognize them, and they wonder why they won't get anywhere. Anyway, its a non-issue for people in Xamar, Bay, Bakool or Gedo so I fail to see how their opinion would matter on a part of the country they don't even know anything about.

See this is what I mean. This guy is probably from South Somalia and there are thousands like him/her in Somalia.

My question is why do you care if SomaliLand get recognition? North and South don't even share border.

Somalia is controlled by AMISOM troops and Ethiopian troops at least Somaliland is free and there are no AMISOM or Ethiopian troops.

There was no government in Moqadishu, there is no real government now..
When the UN/AU is done with creating the semblance of a government in Mogadishu then we will finally be able to talk.

A "real" government will never recognize you due to its own pride, arrogance, and of course power. Your best shot was working with the myriad of pseudo-governments that came about the last few years. They had and still have all the legitimacy of a real legal government as far as anyone is concerned yet they are too weak to talk down to you - you guys have a year or two maximum to put your request through. For an educated man you certainly are terrible at making good analyses, or you simply enjoy lying to yourself like the rest of your political bloc.

It is one thing for reer Konfur to not be against Somalilanders getting independence it is another to stand on the streets and campaign on their behalf. Do you want to get rid of them that badly?

From your viewpoint your analysis is credible and logical,
but you are looking at it through darood lens.

We do not consider somalia to be worth anything at all...

at most we are gaurenteed Taiwan like status in the next 2 years.
as long as we can get a share of any economic/millitary aid ,independant trade credits and have our passports accepted we would not mind being temporarily tied to somalia for a while..

This is the framework being pushed by the EU,the US and Ethiopia.
There is no Mubarak, Ali abdullah al Saleh or Gaddafi around to put of strong opposition .
Saudia is lukewarm, Kuwait and UAE are indifferent.

Italy is the only stumbling block but all of Italys opposition parties are positive towards somaliland.

Do you see now we are in a good mood these days.

What stands in the way of Somaliland's recognition has always been Somaliland, more notably the Somaliland adminstrations. Instead of reconciling with the rest of Somalia, recognizing the legitimacy & influence of Somalia's post-civil war governments, establishing relations with these adminstrations & seeking independence through this route - Somaliland has been busy chasing its tail in the desert. Arrogance, unwillingness to accept the rest of Somalia's say, disregarding the validity of Mogadishu, Bosaso, Kismayo & Baydhabo and a mentality of victimization has crippled a dream that had very little potential to begin with. When will Somaliland stop acting like an entirely seperate entity that is beyond Somalia? When will they start establishing relations with Somalia's government rather than looking to Addis? Now is probably the best time to get a concensus, because once there is a strong, centralized Somali government, the dream of an independent Somaliland will cease to be, once and for all.

Unfortunately, Somaliland is a clan enclave, its legtimacy & ambitions end there.

We are not part of somalia and we will never be.

and when will you take responsibility for yourself and stop looking at somaliland?
Somaliland is independant, our people vote for its government, our MP's are chosen by the people instead of chosen by Ethiopia.
We are not a UN/AU trusteeship, we are sovereign.

once you too become sovereign we may be able to talk.

Gurey - you exhibit the sort of futile arrogance reserved for people with due cause. As a Southerner, I have no issue with an independent & sovereign Somaliland, provided Somaliland fullfills certain territorial criterias i.e. the people of Sool, Sanaag & Cayn are given a referendum to decide their future. Most Southerners have little ill towards Somaliland, we spend a very tiny amount of our time discussing you or even looking in your direction, to us you are insignificant & so far removed from our daily dealings. Unlike you, we are not fixated on the past & its wrongs, we have moved on. We are fully aware of the simple fact that without our approval, your attempts at recognition will continue to be nothing more than a dream. Its time to come down to earth and accept Somalia's legtimacy, because without it, you will continue on this path.

If Isaaq were a small minority that were denied their due rights as citizens of Somaliland, would you still be a staunch supporter of Somaliland or look to Mogadishu for the future?
