Somalis and self hate.

The only nation or ethnicity that I've seen that has kryptonic levels of self hate are Somalis. Some people might be thinking, how is that possible we are one of the most proud people. Allow me to elaborate.

I have yet to see a nation or a people to indulge in self hate due to an existing problem. Bingo, I'm talking about the stateless people known as Somalis. Were the Somalis the first people to go through such a horrible episode in current history that would make their case more understandble? No to the mother***** no!

How come the Germans never self hated themselves because of World Wars I &II? How about the French Revolution that cost millions of lives to end the French monarchy? Did this turbulent episode in French history cause the Franks to self hate?

How about the Jews? A stateless people for most of their known history, yet it's harder to find a self hating Jew than a proud Somali female.

Some of you might be wondering why I'm writing this, it's essentially because of this stupid blog written by a self hating Somali girl. I cringed reading it, I ask myself all the time why are most Somali girls so deluded and idiotic? On this blog she is apparently seeking a non Somali audience for approval and trashing on her own people in the process. Some might think I'm generalising, I probably am. The reason why I am is because I only see Somali 'girls' with this level of self hate. In regards to the dudes, let them be as useless and unproductive as can be but they would never air their dirty laundry to non Somalis.

I have seen a lot of Somali females that think like her,perhaps even the majority. The only ones which are safe are Djiboutians.

Which leads to my other question, is this an issue of statelessness, even Somaliland is ok. From what I have observed this form of self hate is rampant amongst those diaspora communities that have no hope of going back home.

Ok so I just read Hawa’s blog and although she mentioned an endless list of negatives, I have to admit that I myself have witnessed a few of those shortcomings within our Somali people but do you know what, that’s NORMAL because every race is made up of trillions of different types of people, some who are poles apart. And not one single person is free of error so to find faults in your people is conforming to the standard but to be 100% negative you clearly have immersed issues within yourself...she also failed to mention a number of positive things, if any at all. In fact almost her entire blog reeked of self hatred. She plainly painted a picture of a race that has no hope and whose failures are beyond measure when in actual fact there are plenty of Somali brothers/sisters who are academically successful who are also proudly and blissfully attached to their religion and culture. And as for Somali kids not having manners or not being as intelligent as kids from other races...I’d gladly introduce her to 6 yr old Somali kids who acquire more Islamic knowledge than her, speak Somali to a greater level than her, who have astounding akhlaaq...bowy they’d put her to shame.


She also said she’d never call Somalia her home, she’s never been there and she knows little of the Somali language. This is where I say Somali parents/guardians are to blame (if they were around, everyone’s situation is different and I appreciate that)
To be proud of where you are from then you first need to be educated about where you are from and what it represents, so Somali has to be spoken inside the home,
your parents have to take you to trips to see your Motherland and they have to teach you about your culture.
The more knowledge you acquire the more you begin to love.

Thread starter: To stop and recognise a problem then to think of a solution is to do something fruitful, to state cynical points and have a negative perspective based on insubstantial sources = you just want to rant.
In conclusion, you and Hawa have more in common than you think.

There is nothing ‘strong’ about being ashamed of who you are. If she’s so mortified to tell people that she’s Somali because of the negatives in our community I’d love to sit down with her and ask her what she’s done as a Somali female INDIVIDUAL to contribute to the way we are perceived as Somalis and what positive impact she’s had. Because she most definitely isn’t someone I’d aspire to be....Deuces
