The japanese pay well and its a pleasant place to live..
but they have the same problem with overworking as the US.
In the US its evil corporations that have been taking away vacation time for decades and the US is the only country in the OECD without mandated vacation time,
the Japanese are the opposite there is a compulsory 2 weeks vacation time that everyone has to take annually, but they have the option for upto 3 to 4 weeks..
While many european countries have upto 5 weeks...

This is why the Gulf is the most attractive, while my salary is aout 70% to 80% of the same in the US or Japan,
I pay ZERO taxes so i actually do earn more than the average..

plus i get and take 5 weeks off every year..

Teaching is highly respected.

Gurey,
In the Gulf, they respect those with degrees from Western Unis , especially from U.K and U.S.A. Laakin if you have a degree from India , or Syria you get paid very little.

Teaching, Medical fields from doctors to nurses to medical technicians.

Geologists,Petroleuem Engineers, chemical engineers, Metallurgical engineers..

areas to stay awa from, IT ( for every IT job from the basic code cruncher to software engineers and project managers there is an Indian ready to work for less than half what you are ready to take, and will be more qualified and experienced, and they will also worship the arab local management slavishly and kiss ass like hell)

Anything construction related, the construction boom is bust as of 2008, those surviving in the industry are getting 1/2 of what they were getting in 2005.

depends on your experience and skills, i work with people with degrees from India and Egypt and they earn as much as me or higher..

Western degrees are not the automatic ticket to the good life like it used to be 10 years ago, there is too much competition..

If you have a western degree plus at least 5 years work experience in the west, that will get you the big bucks

Really? So, the Japanese don't have a ridiculous amount of seniors leaving retirement to go back to work in fast food chains, just so they can pay their bills, and eat?

I believe there's always more to every story.

The japanese economy is still in a coma but their pensions are in safer hands than those in Europe or the US.
They did not invest them in the global casino, so they did not make huge losses and then ask for a government payout..

They can afford their pensions, and their social security takes care of the elderly..
The only problems they have are social the lack of families, i have seen allot of the elderly pensioners when i was in Japan.
Bieng the cheapskate i am i like to stay in budget accomodation, and my hotel was in the suburb called Minami Senju..
Excellent location close to all the sites, but it was infested with allot of unemployed crazy old japanese men..

they were funny as hell but harmless and they looked healthy and well looked after..
