Hijab/Diraac, Reason Most Somalis Wear It?

Post by Knight of Wisdom »

Had a brief discussion concerning the Hijaab with fellow Non-Muslim and Muslim associates alike. Now, reading that comment above, makes me reevaluate the purpose of Hijaab or Diraac for most Somali women. Supposedly, for Hargaysa1982, she thinks if you have a "sexy toned arms" you should show it off, throw the Diraac aside and let it all be seen. *This is no way, shape or form an attack on Hargaysa1982*

Is it a way to cover up that which they don't like about their bodies OR Do they wear it because of the sake of Allah, fulfilling that which has been requested by Allah and his Prophet?

I ask this, because I came across few Somali broads that use to be "Hijabis", when they were out of shape, but, as soon as they started their diet, worked out (with the Hijaab at the time) , about few months or so, they stared wearing....Goono iyo Khaamar. After a 1 and a half later, they started wearing tight Goono/Jeans with no Khaamar. After 2/3 years later, which is TODAY, they're wearing mini-skirts/shorts, with blouse and whatnot.

Recently, I heard they've been wearing bikinis at the beach, cause...they got that "fine (Coke-Bottle) body shape". :|

Well, I do think sisters look hot when they wear hijaab and dirac. If sisters expose anything other than their face and hands, it's automatically turn-off for me as it is not hot for me, this also includes sisters showing off their arms.

By the way, this. I can't recall seeing any Somalis wearing western clothes without any hijaab and Somalis in bikini in beach. I guess so, it must be a USA thing.

Islam mandates modest dress, not medieval costume dress. Some Wahabi chicks look like they are going to a Halloween party with the black gloves and facial coverings. The wahabi mindset of covering every single inch of a woman’s body with must inducing rags is an over sexualization of womenfolk and should be rejected by all decent women who don’t want to become enveloped, voiceless, shapeless nonentities.

edit: lol this is about the diraac. whoops. I support the diraac. :D

I am 100% against Wahabi Style of dressing. It promotes adultery. Yes, ADULTERY. Your wife could be amongst a group of women walking next to you in the Market place, holding hands with another man, and you wouldn't know cause she got her hands and face covered, even the eyes.

Somalida are divided in two groups when it comes to the hijaab, first grp, Allaah swt guides them they learn the deen and they understand the reasons for the hijab thus wear it properly and follow its rules. The second group are those who wear it because their parents ayaa ku soo koriyey and later on this group ditches the hijab marka ay environment ku ka xoog badiso.

Most of the somali girls who are religious and are connected to the Masjids/good company are more religious and more pious than other Muslims by the way they handle themsleves.

And that comment was just specific to that video.........

Greenday the dirac hides many faults(flabby stomach &fatty flaps that hang loosely off of untoned armska dee) iminka fiska ain't that bad but she better watch it.....

Insha'Allah he sees the light and understands that he is heading towards the hell fire with everything he says. Amiin.
