Are we really ready for Oil?
Are we honestly ready for the complexities of a modern society? Just as the culture shock the Arabs experienced in the 1950s and 60s, we will be in for a rush of economic and social stimulation in the event of oil extraction.
Is the average nomad in Mudug ready to travel on asphalt highways? Is the fisherman in Eyl ready to live among endless pipelines? How will the age-old landowning families deal with skyscrapers popping up next to their modest 1-2 story properties? Its not the political, but social and economic implications of oil that gauge my interest and concern for our people back home. Certainly, nothing bad can come out of having more money, but the coping mechanisms of our people will be tested. I remember my grandmother telling me when she saw her first kerosene lamp in Gaalkacyo in the 1940s, how she watched in awe. I imagine this to be happening on a grand scale across Puntland in the coming generation.
Discuss these coming changes.

Monk, over the past few months, you've changed your "location" on Snet, from "Shiekh Ibn Isa" to "House of Ibn Issa Maxmud" to "Emirate of Puntland" to "Fat Shiekh with my boy servant in Garowe"

Now, you seem like your legs are now coming down to the ground. The clouds that you once kept your nose up in, have disappeared. The Chicken is in the barn.

Everyone is ready for money, a lot of bad can come out of it, but more good is to be found in money, maybe people will grow out of jaahilnimo and tribal warfare, I mean look at the arabs, the only arab country oo qabiil isku dilo waa Yemen, that should tell you a lot.
Re: Are we really ready for Oil?
Where should Pland get its manual labor from if the oil money starts rolling in?
Ethiopia? - Hard working people but there's the HIV risk.
India? - Hard working people.
Yemen? - Lazy people.
South Somalia? - Violent & untrustworthy people.
Somaliland? - Lazy people.
I think we should go for Ethiopian Oromos, the muslim ones with low HIV, but still docile.

Almost all the oil states used foreign manual laborers to do the dirty work. You won't get a construction project finished on time with a bunch of aggressive Hutus or lazy Isaaqs for sure; you have to choose your workers wisely.

Thightrope waa "nacam leh" or "a yes, man/woman"
within puntland snet members you’re a “yes, sir” to your masters. Wad u nacam laaysaa. If they say jumb you copy and fellow them.
Thumb up replys. You have no opinion or political debate of your own.
You’re so boring
You're scared of being criticized by other pland members or even you think you will be isolated by them
