Persia´s influence on ancient Somalia

Shah or shahanshah ("King of Kings") was the title of Persian emperors or kings. It includes rulers of the first Persian Empire, the Achaemenid dynasty, who unified Persia and created a vast intercontinental empire, as well as rulers of succeeding dynasties.

The name "Mogadishu" is held to be derived from the Arabic مقعد شاه Maq'ad Shah ("The seat of the Shah"), a reflection of the city's early Persian influence.

Benadir is a coastal region of Somalia. It covers most of the Indian Ocean coast of the country, from the Gulf of Aden to the Juba River, containing the capital of Mogadishu. The name comes from Persian bandar, which means port (referring to the northern ports of Barawa and Mogadishu), a fact that reflects the region's importance to Persian and Arab trade during the European Middle Ages.

Very interesting. Persian architecture is also visible in some places of Mogadishu :ugeek:

This centralized wealth also lead to the development of a large town which mostly likely surrounded the coast or port. The influence of Islam on Mogadishu and its hinterland led to persian made Islamic-influenced architecture. The building of the Fakr ad Din Mosque in approximately 1268 is an example of the Islamic influenced architecture in Mogadishu. It can be seen in the picture below.

Bandar Abbas is a port.

Bandar Abbas Port is in the middle of the Strait of Hormoz linking the Persian Gulf to the Sea of Oman.

Bandar= deegaan xeeb leh/coastal area in persian

We have Bandar Beyla in Somalia. etc

Coeus, we do have persian influence specially in coastal towns, we traded with them.
