Hijab has become culture rather than religion.
I'm now convinced that a lot of women cover up because of cultural pressure rather than covering up because the diin says so. How did I arrive to this conclusion? Because I see girls covering up and doing all da shyt the uncovered ones are doing. I was at the shiisha spot last saturday, and half of the girls shaking their ass on the stage were all covered up. I ain't even complaining because it was a hella view, laakiin I can't help but wonder why a girl would dress modestly yet sin like lil wayne. Marka aniga waxaan kusoo gabagabaystay xijaabka inuu noqday dhaqan uuna xaga diinta qiimihiisu dhacay. What do you think?

You're a shiisha head your opinion doesn't really matter at this point.

Dude, we have Moroccan women in hijab doing deep-throats on a dildo, marka waa caadi.
I was convinced many years ago that hijab is a fashion or cultural statement rather than religious.

Very ture; a cultural norm that has its origin in Arabia! Nothing to do with religion. Go to qaad houses, travel from any surburb into the city centre or visit Nairobi; it is the same thing everywhere; the religious zealots have found a way to put their seal.
Hijab is counter productive to the basic foundations of islam! It makes islam a religion of dress code instead of camal.
Moral police on this joint; Am I crossing the line?

You crossed the line. This will be used against you for centuries to come. Good Luck.

No but seriously, totally agree with you metamorphosis, the way it should be is this; if you're going to wear a hijab, might as well get rid of those see thru tops and tight jeans as well, if anything, covering your body is more important than you covering your hair. Although I must say the Somali females are much better dressed than their Arab counterparts.

What we should be using to 'cover our adornments' has become an adornment in and of itself.

You're taking about tight stuff. As I'm typing this, I see a covered girl and her boobs are showing. I don't understand it, I just don't. aaway wadaadii? I got questions!
Re: Hijab has become culture rather than religion.
Apart from the rant of the obvious none muslim member/s, its unfair to pick on the hijab and the reason behind the decisions of the sisters. Hijab and muslim sisters have became the easiest targets within the Ummah and some of the biggest objections and excuses used by the west is the claim of subjugation of women in muslim countries. Its probably too much exposure to western media and their constant attack on Islam and muslims but some of you guys sound like bbc reporters. Whatever is wrong with those girls in question is an issue that concerns the whole community. So stop questioning the hijab by turning it into something that is optional and not of real importance.

It's quite amusing how Somalis try to call someone who knows the religion more than them non-Muslim. Is it the new 2011 diss?934 wrote:Apart from the rant of the obvious none muslim member/s,
