I hate white people learning our language. Somaliland doesn't exist. The us government lied about the moon landing. I'm so full of hate I might explode.

:o Easy? Maybe easier today than when I tried to learn, but still not easy.

In 1966 it wasn't written yet. There were no dictionaries. We had word lists that didn't agree and nobody understood grammar. I was sent to Jilib with three pages of Maxaatiri phrases, never having been told about May Maay or Mushunguli.

Is she actually speaking, or just mimicking a song?

Grant, are you in a relationship with a Somali woman currently? if not, when you were staying in Somalia, did you have any issues regarding having a relationship at all?

Cali Gab,

Off topic....

No Somalis in my life currently. In Somalia, communication was difficult and the women in the villages were not interested in foreign white men. I had the odd "date" when I got to Kismayu or Hamar, but nothing you could call a relationship.

One girl in my group did marry a Somali, and they are still together, but generally speaking I would say we didn't have that kind of relationships. We were young. We were there to do a job and go home. We tried to create the best impression possible and not antagonize the locals, If you catch my drift. For me It was lonely and I never did learn decent Somali..

As a Muslims you should be a good role model and should set a good example to the non-believers.
