They wouldn't be the first. A while ago there was an Archbishop who called for sharia to be incorporated or rather acknowledged in the British legal system but there was such an exaggerated backlash. The fact of the matter is when it comes to domestic matters we do already practise sharia. The Salafis are pioneers, pushing the boundaries and putting the truth out there. Hip Hip!
