For a few months now, I stopped listening to music and watching Television altogether. In fact, the only television I do watch, which is occassional, is the news and even then it's economic/business news stories. I replaced Music with listening to Qur'an on my MP3. I also read books as opposed to watching tv.
Mashallah I've really found it very helpful and feel alot calmer and peaceful than I used to be. I have more time for my studies and my mind feels sharper than it used to be. Anyone had any similar effects?

You'll relapse, maybe not back to the corrupting music.
Re: Those who don't listen to music
Yes
Everthing you said is true. You think more clearly even when you are sitting by yourself you dont have the occasional ringing tune in your head of the last song you listened to. Instead you have dhikr coming from your lips, and what makes you know what dhikr is!
If you relapse, dont feel like very bad, just try again.

Re: Those who don't listen to music
Good for you..
I've never really been into music so I wouldn't know.. But I reckon I need to cut down on the amount of time I spend watching the telly/dvds InshaaAllah.. I did this last year for like 2 months straight and it felt great, I had so much time on my hands and the day felt longer..
