Sounds like a police state. Is authoritarianism really a solution?

Not a Solution. But given the current situation in Mogadishu and the random shabab khariji suicide bombings extreme measures have to be taken to safeguard the security of the governmnet instutions as well the common folks.

It's heartwarming to read that the government forces are talking security seriously & they must be applauded for being vigilant. The enemy must always be on the back foot & looking over his shoulders instead of plotting & attacking.
For this whole thing to work, the government had to monopolize violence. You can not have the writ of the government challenged by bunch of moronic masked teenagers.
Following the June/July offense of Shabab on Madina, and excessive IEDs & assassinations, a basic decision was taken to terrorize the terrorists. People suspected of supporting Shabab were apprehended & publicly humiliated & killed in a frenzy of mob justice. Even people who leaned towards Shabab were caught in a campaign of name & shame and ultimately killed. For many months, headless corpses of suspected Shabab sympathizes would be left at night in the streets to send message to closet shababists. It worked wonders. In no time Wadajir was wiped out clean & Al Shabab never carried a targeted killing or civil disturbances in the district again.
I suspect the same campaign ought to be revisited & implemented across Mogadishu. Citizen implemented justice at its best!

Ciyaalwarta,
Adeer, it happens all the time. I remember panicking when shopping at Benadir COmputers near Nasahablood

So where abouts town do you live ?
Aan iis aragno, I return in two weeks from Galkayo. I stay near Sheik Indocaade's place in KM-5.
By the way make sure to go to Ina Qeybdiid's restaurant near Safari. They serve excellent beer
