Some nice pictures of old Mogadishu

Post by Voltage »

This city had a lot of historical character. I wonder how that will be preserved during redevelopment.

Good grief, is that really old Abdulaziiz Mosque? No amount of reconstruction can replace the lost heritage. I wonder what else can be salvaged?

Voltage,

It is. That was my photo that PO posted. It got focked up. The tomb of the unknown soldier is intact. The Arc De Triumphe is battered. Sayiidka is gone. The Isbaheysiga MAsjid is intact and looks great.

somalis are so melo dramatic

Why more pertinent examples of reconstructrion from total destruction can you get than from Hiroshima and Nagasaki that saw a total destruction in a matter of mins.

The Japs went from a feudal society to full scale industrialization in a generation, something that took Europe centuries.

Somalis are an African tribal society whose main achievement for the past millenia has been herding camels, who managed to turn one of the most progressive and modern African states into a cesspool of filth, poverty, and unimaginable suffering in two decades.

I feel depressed :(
