It is clear Somali president Sheekh Shariif Sheekh Axmed understands the game that Kenya is pursuing, and he will not go down in history as the one who authorized Kenya's military efforts to seize Somalia's territorial land andcontinental shelf.
Insha-Allah this will bring a unified front among the Somalis.

Udun, you are a gullible man. Shariff has already supported the signing of the continental shelf on many occasions. As for this issue, the Kenyans came to Muqdisho and met with his officials when they started this occupation. So how was he not consulted? Shariff is playing good cap-bad cop. I am a pretty certain he is in on this. The man has a bad track record when it comes to trust- check his history.

Tighrope, Abdillahi Yusuf did not bring the Ethiopians to Somalia. As Wikileaks has shown even Melez did not want to go; it was Jendayi Frazer who arm-twisted Melez to send the troops. Thos are the facts we have seen.

Gaajounit, in my view, Shariif is a man with many dimensions and is not as dumb as many people believe. He does not directly oppose the west, Kenya, and Ethiopia. He agrees with them when they request him what they want, but then asks the Somali parliament to reject it. Both Omar Abdirashed Ali Sharmaarke and Sheekh Shariif were in agreement to file the Somali TFP's vote with the UN. This has really infuriated with Kenya and the European oil conglamerates. You should understand it is the big powers who bankroll the TFG that are pursuing the Continetal Shelf and supprting Kenya in its efforts.
What I told you is based on the information I have, but I could be wrong.

Kenya incursion: Somali President changes tune
By ABDULKADIR KHALIF in MogadishuPosted Monday, October 24 2011 at 17:30
Share Somali President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed says Kenya’s campaign against Al-Shabaab rebels should not go beyond training Somali soldiers and provision of logistical support in specified and agreed areas.
Speaking while on a visit to the the frontline of the war between his government's forces and the Al-Shabaab, President Sharif stated that many Somalis were anxious to know more about the military operations reportedly being carried out inside Somalia by Kenyan troops.
Talking to the media at T-da, Dayniile District in the south of Mogadishu, President Ahmed praised the achievements of the pro-government forces in pushing Al-Shabaab militants out of their positions in the capital.
Kenya has deployed troops into Somalia, claiming to act in hot pursuit of Al-Shabaab militants who it accuses of being responsible for a series of kidnappings of foreign tourists and aid workers from its territory.
“We are very grateful to Kenya for helping Somalis establish the Transitional Federal Government,” said President Ahmed.
“We are equally appreciative for Kenya’s assistance in training Somali Government soldiers meant to stabilise the security of the country,” he added.
He then went on to point out that Kenyan forces entering Somalia without the latter's permission could prove counterproductive.
“Amisom peacekeepers are in Somalia through UN, AU and Igad approval as well as the acceptance of the Somali Government,” said the head of state while responding to media enquiries.
On October 18, a Kenyan delegation led by Foreign minister Moses Watang'ula and his Defence counterpart Yusuf Haji visited Mogadishu, where they were said to have agreed with Mogadishu on a joint assault against Al-Shabaab.

Abdullahi Yusuf signed papers saying that he wanted them to come. Its not as if Ethiopia said we're going to invade and he was against it. Ethiopia said they were there cause the TFG wanted them there, which is absolutely correct.

Shirib, if I do remember correctly, TFP voted for front-line states to send their troops to Somalia, and that is how they initially came to Baidoa. The final assault for the Ethiopians to undertake with western airpower came from Jendayi Frazer. That is what Wikileaks has shown, and even Melez did not initially wanted, but he was arm-twisted by Jendayi.

The TFG voted for Ethiopia to invade and Abdullahi Yusuf authorized their invasion. Him being a puppet is beyond the point, the fact is that he asked them to come, and that's what he is judged on.
If he would have refused Ethiopian troops I'd hail him as a hero

A/laahi Yusuf stood up like a man when Ethiopians asked him to sign those 10-point letters. Part of those statements were "to sign off the Ogaden", and presient A/lahi Yusuf told them it was up to the Somalis in the Ogaden and not a decision that he could made. He had refused all of the points that he was asked to sign. There was no way that A/laahi Yusuf could be a puppet. He knew that Ethiopians were brought in by Washington and was very aware that they will go when American government wanted them to go.
I throw the blame on the Islamic Courts leaders who were hell-bent on attacking Baidoa. Why couldn't they cut a deal with him, instead of unleashing 30,000 UIC fighters on him? According to the Somali aouthor Nuradin Farah, the opportunity was lost when certain leaders of the Islamic Courts Union refused to share power ith him. To my understanding Sheekh Shariif was in favor of a deal. It was other leaders of the UIC who opposed the power sharing agreement.
So Shirib tell me if you are a president of a country and with 7,000 troops, and you're being attacked with 30,000 troops, what choice do you have? The responsibility of Ethiopian arrival was all shared by Somalis both in the TFG and UIC, and of course the big powers who were pulling the strings behind the scene. The blame does not lie on one man only. Fyi, Shariif Xasan was one of the people who authorized the Ethiopian arrival, and he later on joined the UIC camp and was blaming them the Ethiopian arrival.
