Pirates Or Somali Navy?

"Mogadishu - Somali pirates holding 48 Asian fishermen and their three vessels have lowered their ransom demand during government-brokered negotiations, a human rights activist said.

The gunmen, who have been holding the fishermen and their vessels near the southern Somali port of Kismayo since August 15, originally demanded $500 000 for each of the three boats and their crews. They agreed to accept $50 000 during negotiations with the Malaysian agent for the Taiwan trawlers, Ali Bashi, chairperson of the Fanole Human Rights Centre, said on Tuesday."

Many of these vessels are illegally fishing in the Somali territorial waters and use fishing techniques that are banned and therefore depleting our fisheries resources. If that was the case I would have supported them, but when they hijack a U.N ship carrying humanitarian food and medicine for suffering Somalis, then that is what I consider a clear line of piracy. Does anyone know who those pirates are?

They are no pirates as per the word, but just few armed thugs who would demand ransom from anything including their granma's goats for grazing the wrong side of the road. From 1.5 ml to 50k, that says enough of their motives and status
