Rant
I can count the number of Somali female friends and acquaintances I have on one hand. What's wrong with our generation wallahi were trifling. From demanding a meher that you know your fiancé can't afford as though it's a status symbol to divorcing your husband cuz he doesn't want you to talk to your male friends excessively anymore. Even a lack of respect for waliidka, to wasting thousands on a degree that will never lead to a career just to say you have a degree. UGH don't get me wrong the good Somali girls are the Some of the best girls Islam has to offer mashallah in terms of balancing the best of back home and American lifestyle, but the majority of us piss me off. /rantover

Re: Rant
Little of what you said made sense. You have few Somali female friends, yet are able to deduce all this?

Re: Rant
Quite a magnetic rant you had there covered numerous grounds in one paragraph you forgot however the ones who have a superiority complex when they are given a position of power. In consequence looking down upon others of the same ethnicity as though one is beneath them, I find this the most aggravating.Nanees wrote:I can count the number of Somali female friends and acquaintances I have on one hand. However can you expand on what you mean by not wanting to stop talking to male friends excessively? Is there a common problem as well, this I did not know.

Re: Rant
I have a mixed feeling;
On the one hand, it is only somali women that I can understand (and they can understand me too). We don't need to find words to describe a feeling, anger, joy etc; we have the same kind of institutional platform; word association, behaviourial dynamics etc
On the other hand, I think the majority of somali women (just like somali men) live in a world of illusion; a world of plenty; a world of show off; it is about the short run rather than the long run; it is about responding to peer pressure to marry;
The result of this is of course wrong choices.
If you want to marry a somali woman, the best strategy is to travel to the countryside of somali territories and find yourself a pride there; buy her some cows, sheep or goats and send her masaruuf.
Kuwa dibada joogo waa lagu khasaaray.

Re: Rant
If a husband asks his wife to stop talking to or having male friends...then she should stop. It's simple and it's not something you destroy the marriage for

Re: Rant
1. Approximately, someone with a high school diploma will make $1.6M in their lifetime while someone with a degree will make $3.6. With a post-secondary degree, one is more likely to work in safe conditions with a higher pay. Even if someone is to waste thousands on a degree that may or may not land them a "career" job, it's beats the hell out of not having one.
2. Meher is a two-way street. If she asks for something unreasonable, he doesn't have to comply. Khasab ma'aha. He could move onto another chick who settles for less (so to speak) and she can find someone whose willing to pay her price. Shidh like this shouldn't have anyone worked up.
3. Inta kale maan fahmin. Most rants just cover 1 topic but you're all over the place.

Re: Rant
We need more somali females like you to tell the truth. Somali males have a lot of problems also but the difference is most somali girls are defensive and will attack you for stating the truth. The worst thing is most of them back each other on wrong things.
