Today this Egyptian chick was telling a bunch of us how sad her weekend was because 30 Egyptians got killed and all I could think of was the 146 Somalis that got killed a few weeks back. I was like screw you and your 30 Egyptians if Ethiopia comes in and there is a repeat of last time thousands of Somalis will die so really, screw you and your weekend. Obviously I didn't say this but I was thinking it. Am I the only one?

You should have said it to her instead of comforting her.

the difference IS egypt has been a relatively stable country until recently, while in somalia death and killing has been common place for the past 20 odd years.

I didn't comfort her which is horrible I suppose but then there were enough white girls to make up for that. I just sat there contemplating her sad face and wondered if she had actually cried her eyes out or whether she just wanted us to think that she had cried her eyes out.

I was watching the aljazeera vid of tarzan and how he was trying to put together this celebration in xamar, watching how the band was getting ready and people were so excited about it, and then 3 morayaans attacked as people were getting in, the band leader got killed and that affected me more than reading a number on a screen.

It did affect me I just didn't cry or go around telling other people about it.
I learnt a little while ago that apparently Cain (from Cain and Abel sons of Adam), gets the sin of everyone who has ever killed another human being since he was the first to kill which then is supposed to teach the weight of the sin of killing another human being. Lakin when death happens often every new addition only hardens the heart. Either that or a person goes crazy.

no, cameramen were down on the ground, but afterwards when the shooting stopped that was when you saw the casualties.

Each life deserves mourning, so yea it was unconsidered of you to compare them lakiin its natural for you to feel more pain about the Somali deaths.

It is because Somali blood, atleast in the modern era, became cheap in the 1980s and has stayed that way since then.
Egyptians haven't seen any sort of intense civil strike.. esp in the major cities where their own army is shooting at protesters. But the Bedouins in Sinai aren't new to this

I said the same thing when massacres were happening in Libya.
Look, I sympathise with everyone who is facing brutality and losing lives, but I cannot shed a tear for others. I'll go as far as saying I don't even shed a tear for the Palestinians. I know its not politically correct to say that, especially amongst Muslims, but that's what it is. The only people that concerns me are Somalis, and to a larger extend, people from Horn Africa in general.

Yet these same palestinians you didn't share a tear for shed one for your people and sent them famine relief aid. And your people in somalia are extremely sympathetic to the plight of the palestinians. You don't have to necessary shed a tear every time, but then again if your not there it doesn't always have the same affect on you.
