Mashallah, I have noticed couple years ago, it was hard to find niqaabis here in the west, now you see them everywhere. The dacwa of the ahlul Salaf is spreading like wildfire and Somali female youth have embraced it.

I am so happy!

I think it just indicates the spread of Saudis or those who have lived in Saudi.

Why would you stare? is not that strange. I personal think niqaab is a bit excessive and unnecessary, but more power to those who wear the niqaabs

I saw a woman wearing it on the train. She was also pushing a child along on this stroller, rather clumsily because the garb obviously obstructed her eyesight. Every single person on the train was looking right at her. Appears to be little more than an attention whoring device for the ‘holier than thou’ crowd imo.

Fah,

I don't see anything wrong with it, it's a personal choice, but I will never wear it.

Union live and let live.

I gotta admit, that the niqab scares the shit out of me. There is no doubt in my mind that it's a way to suppress us. In other words it's a man made invention to silent and limit our freedom in society. Heck I dont even cover my hair let alone wear that thang :|

surely if it is a 'Saudi' thing then why would the best of women wear it if it wasn't necessary or it was just tradition?

As a Muslim, you should have engaged in a brotherly conversation with her, to ease her feeling of discomfort from every single person on the train looking at her. Instead, you've compounded her discomfort.

why would men want women to cover up?

if it was a "man made law" then surely instead of the niqaab we would want women to wear bikinis and so would any other man.

the niqaab and the hijab suppress men more then it does to women.

I believe people like her need to be sent to “reeducation camps” in the future secular Somalia.
