Old school football fans. Remember Nigeria 94?

Post by Jaidi »

This was probably the most talented African team I can remember. Greatly entertaining and they had tons of technical skill that has gone missing from African football totally. Defensive midfielder position has ruined African football completely. Went from the likes of Abedi Pele and George Weah to Obi Mikel and Makelele( I know he's French but you get the point)

If memory serves right, the final was between Argentine and Germany, and the latter won. Right?

I remember '94 USA because that was my first World Cup. I still have George Weah soccer card. Everyone who's black or African was cheering for Nigeria.

My favorite player in that tournament was Gheorghe Hagi.

Damn, I remember this as if it was yesterday. I was only a child, but damn Yekini, Amunike, Finidi George etc. bringing back memories.

Now Africa have dhagaxs like Jon Obi Mikel and Alex Song. From sweet attacking flair to hardcore dhagax defensive midfielders.

I was living in the Khaleej so this world cup was also legendary because of Saudia's performance they made the knockout stage. Saeed al Owairan's goal is still probably the greatest moment in Gulf football history  The man became filthy rich and famous when he came back I heard the royal family gave him a few roll royces. He ended up being fat and out of shape and got jailed at one point for being caught drunk

Incredible goal, one of the best in World Cup history for sure.

I remember that Saudi goal. Its a shame how he is now completely forgotten.

Talking about Saudi players, this keeper is a joker. Also the Arabic commentator makes it even better
