Kenya’s Foreign affairs Minister Moses Wetangula held a meeting with Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir on Thursday December 1, in Khartoum in a bid to defuse diplomatic tension between the two countries.

Kenya and Sudan are locked in a diplomatic row after a Kenyan court issued a warrant of arrest against Bashir if he sets his foot in Kenya and hand him over to the International Criminal Court where he is wanted for suspected genocide in Darfur.
Sudan has threatened to expel Kenya's ambassador and pulled its own envoy out of Nairobi.

Justice Nicholas Ombija issued a warrant for Bashir’s arrest on Monday following an application lodged by the International Commission for Jurists (ICJ) Kenya Chapter.

In his ruling, Justice Ombija said Al-Bashir’s arrest "should be effected by the Attorney General and the Minister for Internal Security should he ever set foot in Kenya"

ICJ rushed to court soon after Bashir’s visit in Kenya on August 27, 2010 during the promulgation of the country’s new Constitution.
