There is no doubt that he is not angel.
My own explanation:
1) snipers had lunch time or they had little bit islamnimo/humanity. Maybe that explains why they didnt fire at him.

2) the brother worked his hand a lot at the gym.
Allah made him strong. Thats why it was easy for him to do this.
