Virtues of amir al mumineen Ali bin abi talib r.a
Prophet sallahu aleyhi wa aali wasalam said about him: " O Ali ! It is only
the believer who loves you, and it is only the
hypocrite who hates you.
Zirr bin Hubaysh reported that Ali bin Abu Talib
said, "By Him Who split the grain and created
the soul, the unlettered Prophet told me
particularly that only a truthful believer shall
love me and a hypocrite would hate me." from
Sahih Muslim
Imran bin Husayn reported that Muhammad
said, "Ali is mine and I am his. And he is the
friend of all believers." from Tirmidhi
Abdullah ibn Umar reported that (after Hijrah,
on coming to Madinah) Muhammad created a
muakhah among his Companions. Ali came to
him (sad and grief-stricken ), tears rolling down
his eyes. He said, "You have created muakhah
between every two of the Companions but you
have not created such a one between me and
another." Muhammad said, "You are my
brother in this world and the next." from
Tirmidhi
Ali bin Abu Talib reported that Muhammad said,
"I am the house of wisdom and Ali is its door."
from Tirmidhi
Umm Atiyah reported that Muhammad sent an
army (on an expedition) and Ali was a
participant of it. She heard Allah' s Messenger
make supplication with his hands raised (in
prayer), "O Allah! Do not take me away from
this world til You let me see Ali." from Tirmidhi
Ali bin Abu Talib said Muhammad held the hand
of (both of his grandsons) Hasan and Husayn
and said, "He who loves me, both of them, their
father and their mother (Ali and Fatima) will, on
the Day of Resurrection, be in Paradise at the
(same) degree as mine and with me." from
Tirmidhi
Ali said, "I had fallen ill (and was in much pain).
Muhammad came across me while I was
praying, "O Allah, if my appointed time has
come then grant me peace (give me death and
relief from pain). And if my death is delayed,
then grant me a life of ease and comfort. And if
this (illness and pain) is a trial (from You) then
grant me patience (that I may not complain)."
Allah' s Messenger asked me, "What did you
say?" So I repeated to him. He hit me with his
foot and prayed, "O Allah, grant him health.
(The narrator doubts that he might have said, "O
Allah, cure him.") After that I never had that
complaint." from Tirmidhi
Ali said that Muhammad said to me, "O Ali, you
have a great resemblance to Isa bin Maryam.
The Jews hate him so much that they slandered
his mother, Maryam, and the Christians loved
him so much that they raised him to a position
that was not his." Ali then said, "(Surely it will be
so). Two kinds of people will perish on my
account-- they who love me to the point of
exaggeration and will praise me for what I do
not deserve and they who hate me beyond limit
so that their hatred drives them to slander me."

Shia sources said Ali (ra) said this:
Is this quote true?
http://www.al-islam.org/nahjul/letters/letter31.htmDo not seek the advice of women, their verdicts are often immature and incorrect and their determinations are not firm. You must guard and defend them and act as a shelter to protect them from impious and injurious surroundings and infamous sights, this kind of shelter will keep them well-protected from every harm. Their contact with a vicious and sinful atmosphere (even with all the shelter that you can provide) is going to prove more harmful than being left with protection. Do not let them interfere with affairs where you cannot personally guide or protect them. Do not let them aspire for things which are beyond their capacities. They are more like decoration to humanity and are not made to rule and govern humanity. Exhibit reasonable interest in things which they desire and give importance to them, but do not let them influence your opinions and do not let them impel you to go against your sane views.
Is this quote true?

Re: Virtues of amir al mumineen Ali bin abi talib r.a
Ameer and Imam Ali radiyallah anhu is made commander of the Mujaahideen army which conquers Khaybar:
Imam Bukhari and Muslim narrated in their Sahihs from the way of Abdulaziz ibn Abi Hazim and Abdulrahman ibn Yakoub, both from the way of Abu Hazim Salamah ibn Dinar and the wording is that of Abdulaziz who said: (Sahl ibn Sad Al-Saidy [May Allah be pleased with him] told me that the Messenger of Allah [Prayers of Allah and Peace upon him] said on the Day of Khaibar: I will give this banner (flag) tomorrow to a man whom Allah will facilitate victory through him. He loves Allah and His Messenger, and is loved by Allah and His Messenger". He (Sahl) said: So the people kept on thinking the whole night as to which one from among them will be given the banner? In the morning the people eagerly rushed to Allah's Messenger [Prayers of Allah and Peace upon him], all of them hoping to be the one who is given it. He said: "Where is Ali ibn Abi Talib?" The people replied: He is suffering from eye-trouble. He said: "Send for him and bring him to me". So when 'Ali was brought, the Messenger [Prayers of Allah and Peace upon him] spat in his eyes and invoked Allah to cure him, and he became alright as if he had no ailment. The Prophet then gave him the banner. 'Ali said: "O Allah's Messenger, Shall I fight them (i.e. the enemies) till they become like us?" So he said: "Proceed to them steadily till you approach near to them, and then invite them to Islam and inform them of their duties towards Allah which Islam prescribes for them, for by Allah, if one man is guided on the right path through you, it would be better for you than [a great number of] red camels".
Another merit is that prophet PBUH said about him:
If I am someone’s mawla (friend) then ‘Ali is his mawla too”
Some naasibis say this hadith to be false.
Al-Dhahabi said: “As for the hadeeth, “If I am someone’s mawla then ‘Ali is his mawla too”, it has jayyid isnaads.” It was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, 1750, and he( Al- Dhahabi) criticized those who said that it is da’eef (weak).
