Gift Ideas for Women

I've never been good at giving (or receiving) gifts, so help is much appreciated.

If it were up to me, it would be something creative and unique, yet simple and practical. Something that they would want for themselves, and be glad to use and show off. Something they might like, but wouldn't think to get. I hope I'm on the right lines.

Suggestions? Nothing that breaks easily or may be dangerous to children please.
Thanks!

I just don't want to end up buying someone a towel, cookware, etc. I don't think that's a good look.

It depends on how much you're thinking to spend on the gift.

The best/only advice I can give you is just buy them a Gift Card. In the last 2 - 3 years, whenever a friend is getting married, had a new baby etc I go to one of the stores, put credit in a Gift Card + a gift envelope and done. In that way, they can buy whatever they want & you wont have the worry of whether what you bought them was good, something they wanted etc.

Thanks, but I'm sorry, I can't get myself to buy a gift card. I always thought it was tactless. Yeah, for a newly married couple, it might be good. Not so personal (so you don't cause any unwanted trouble  ), and very practical. Especially for a store focused on cook/kitchenware. But this isn't along the same lines.

Oh, I see! :)

Is she Snetter, Slifer or neither?

PS: Gifts aren't my thing as well and I kinda feel relieved to discover gift-cards. Plus, there are gift-cards for almost anything these days, so yeah.

Lol, nah, really, family. And yeah, gift cards are a good buy for newlyweds, teens, and people who you know will use them. But I know folks who've been sitting on gift cards for over a year.

(Should it not be posted here? Lol )

Yeah, I get it now what you're saying.

LOL! Yes, it should be & I've said that 'cause I am in the wrong place, as in not being the targeted audience.

The less the gift costs the more meaning it has. That is just my philosophy on giving/receiving gifts.

The more meaning it should have? That makes more sense. I agree.

well, for me I'd rather get a nice bracelet made out of clothes than one that costs more. It just has be creative and personal instead of just about the price.

Alfalfa, seriously, get a 25$ gift card to sears or some other major department store w. homegoods. This woman will be recieving so many gifts from so many people meant to be practical and for the house but then her new home will be all mismatched and messed up decor wise cuz of all the diff style pots or decorations from different people. The best gift is the gift of choice  It seems tactless, but its actually the most practical.

I'm sorry, but I'd take a gift id use that cost a reasonable price, then a handwritten note id probably use for less. If you dont want to spend a lot of money on a gift, then spend time with the person. Dont give something that will take you a long time to make on your own but ends up being useless to them.

I don't think you understand the purpose of gift. It has to be personal and something that the person can't get it from anywhere else. Gift is suppose to bring a smile to your face every time you look at it. I would want the person I love to give something that has a personal meaning to him rather than the money that being is charged to his credit card.

Yeah but if you're going to make me something that has no practical value, just spend that time with me instead. I hate novelty gifts, and a novelty gift that actually took out a significant amount of time to hand make is sad :/
