The reason al shabaab will not be defeated

in Somalia is because it enjoys a LOCAL support .
As long as the diaspora { who by definition lives OUTSIDE the country } aligned with the western world 's goal to fight terrorism globally , drives the agenda in Somalia NOTHING will be acheived .
My argument is , the Somali diaspora of the Southern region of Somalia { I am talking about the most vocals }does not reflect the political diversity of the Somalis , why?
The view we have of an "islamist" here in the West is different than that of somebody of the same political affinity in Somalia .
In Somalia , it is the "secularist" that raped , looted and killed the people for so long without retribution .
In the West it is the islamist that is viewed as the wild beast .
In order for things to move ahead in my humble opinion in Somalia , the same effort has to be applied on both ends of the spectrum .
Militarly engaging al shabaab can only be coupled with simulataneous REAL political action {like getting rid of the current president} for the change to happen , but I really do not see how anybody can do that .

There are many people who support them everybody knows it .

Anyway , I really do not see why , and with whom the al shabaab would be negotiating at this point but there is always hope .

If Somalia supported Al-Shaytan you would have seen a war like you did against Ethiopia or anytime that we have been invaded. Instead the Somali people have stepped back and are watching while Al-Shaytan are fighting. I know we are always me and my brother but sometimes your brother is wrong. Any Somali that supports theses criminals is wrong because they betrayed Somalia when they tried to stop the starving famine victims from eating. I know many people and relatives in Somalia who turned away from them for doing that and many former child soldiers who ran away to Mogadishu to get help from those criminals. They betrayed Somalia so that is why there is no war to defend them. Instead we are watching as they are on the floor begging for our hands in the name of "I am your brother." No they deserve to get beat up and we are all saying you deserve it.

What you are refering to is all part of a bigger "demonizing " campaign that I no longer buy into .Like I said as somebody who lives OUTSIDE the country , your perspective is only half the whole picture .
I don't really support al shabaab to be honest , but I have a keen dislike for this patchwork of "siyadist" , warlords clan relatives , former islamist turned CIA employees who 're trying to portray themselves as the future of/for Somalia .
