Some of these media outlets are even claiming that Al shabab has the capacity to hit the US/UK
They dont report on how Al shabab has lost its influence politically & militarily in Somalia. How the TFG is improving and covering more ground.
As a Somali, i see the purpose of this seems to be another motive. The motive is to paint the terrorist threat coming out of Somalia As EXTREME as possible. Even though 10 or more coalition of foreign and domestic forces are fighting Al shabab. Especially the US/european drones bombing Al shabab every day from its bases in Kenya,Ethiopia & Djibouti.
Even though the war is going to end this year (in my opinion) with a defeatet Al shabab, it seems western countries have other plans.
The EEZ issue & aswell as being an obstacle to Somali reconciliation comes to my mind.
Even though the parliament & the TFG cabinet removed the Issue of the EEZ from the roadmap, there is no way some resource houngry western countries will give up on trying to steal our resources by ramping p the Piracy PROPAGANDA and try to reduce our waters to 12 miles.
Indeed among all African groups in the dark continent, it seems that there is a particular interest from western countries in Somalia staying weak,divided and occupied.
This coming london conference will define the tipping point for all Somalis, if the outcome of this meeting is to occupy somalia "legally" and draw a new roadmap, then we must all voice our opposition and see to it that it does not happen.
If western countries truly want peace in Somalia, they would have not tried to illegally threaten the Somali parliament, just because they removed an illiterate Speaker who was draining the Aid money.
They would not have included the EEZ in the roadmap (Basicly stealing a countries resources and territory)
They would not have been silent about illegal fishing in Somalia´s waters
I hope sincerely that Somalia is back on her feets and that we finally return to the scene, because all this bullshit that has been going on for the last 2 decades in our region has hurt us to much. Somalia must return and take its rightful place in the region.
