I read a lot a lot about somali history and met many somalis in their 70's and 80's. I know a mjeerteen man in his mid-eightees. He was born in Hamar-jajab, he has banadiri lahjah. Ok, I also in his 40's he has abgeel or habargidir lahjah.

My father is old enough to be your grandfathers.... My father was born in Boondhere.

I don't know where my paternal grandmother was born, nor do I know where my paternal grandfather was born. They were born around late 1800's.

Contrary to the nonsense spewed in here,There many Majerten families who lived in Mog for the last 20 years and many of them returned in large numbers in 2006 islamic courts union.I know some of them,the head of somali chess federation is which a close relative of mine is married to Mj women.Mareexaan were my naighbours in virtually every degmo we had house in suuqbacaad yaaqshiid,madiino,waaberi and hodan.

You are talking about different things. Ethnic cleansing which happened in Mogadishu in the early 90's.

I was only stating the facts about benadiri people. It is all about the dealect which is specific to the people who grew up in down town Mugadishu. An abgaal who were born in Kaaraan and lived there all his/her life is NOT Benadiri, but an Isaaq, Abgaal, Hawiye, reer-xamar, marehan, majeerteen etc who have that dielct and brought up in those areas are Benadiris.

Because noways we heard all sort of people (particularly hawiye indivuals) claiming to be Benadiris. They are not just because they moved to Mogadishu. I heard this ''anakoo reer Benadir basaan ka adkeyney amharo'. waxa sidan yiri qof ku dhashey kuna korey somewhere in central somalia ( like duuduble murursade). Hooyadey wey yaabtey markey naago ku dhaheen 'anakeyba naga badisaa muqsishee arka!).
