Abdisamad, they are a destabilization group whose only goal is sow division and fitnah within Mulims. They are only find where they are needed by their sponsors. They went to Afghanistan and claimed "we did this, we do that," and the next thing we know is an attack on fellow Muslim nation--Afghanistan. While the invasion has other purposes, Al-Qeada were nonetheless facilitating the agenda of their sponsors.

They went to Iraq and after the invasion and unleashed a bloody campaign on Shia Muslims. They did not stop there but they have also unleashed bloody campaign against other Sunni Muslims in Iraq. Their goal was to reduce the Iraqi resistance to the occupation to zero, and they have achieved that by instigating Sunni-Shia civil war in Iraq. They have also forced the Sunni Muslims to agree with the occupation after many Muslim leaders were killed by Al-Qaeda.

They went to Libya and fought alongside with the Special Forces of the countries who were attacking against the Libyan government forces. Basically, Al-Qaeda, foreign Special Forces, and secessionist groups from the east were the foot soldiers of the war against the Libyan government forces, while NATO air force were attacking from the air.

They are today attacking and destabilizing a fellow Muslim state Syria.

There is no doubt Al-qaeda faacilitates the strategic goals of those who want to reduce Muslim nations and Muslim people to ruin.

It is actually SL that has connections with Al-Qaea, and here is why: The two top leaders of Al-Shabaab is Ahmed Abdi Godane and Ibrahim Al-Afghani. They both hail from Somaliland and have their connections to the Somaliland Intelligence as the latter entity manages the travel and funding of Al-Shabaab. All Al-Shabaab leaders can visit their hometowns in Somaliland (Somalia's Northwest region). These Al-Shabaab leaders who hail from Somaliland wants to keep southern Somalia in tatters, and they are there to ensure no viable Somali government emerges from southern Somalia. So, if we are honestly looking at which Somali group runs Al-Shabaab and manages their affair, it is Somaliland.
