I think its obvious that the International Community for better or worse is taking a interest in Somalia for the first time in ages. Higher and higher level officals from the West, Countires like Turkey have visited Somalia this past year. The UN has made a office there. The AU has always been involved from the beginning. The Arab League is hosting a huge meeting right now on Somalia. Not to mention the rumors of Oil, and the emerging of Federal Governments in the South along with the fact that Somalias in Somalia and aborad are simply sick and tired and are ready to put their differences ahead. I think the future is bright.
Now I know I'm gonna be bombarded with 'The World doesn't care about Somalia' etc. type talk, but please I'm not that naive. Whats changed now is the World is starting to see that We have stuff the World might want and are interested which inturn makes us relavent.

For 20 yrs the west were happy to watch all the meyhem from the sidelines, now that we have started to export our merchandise (piracy, the youth, etc) no one wants to buy, So they have to come up with another plan to make sure we don't export our merchandise for anothet 20 yrs. Don't get you hopes up.

you always hope for a better future. even Americans with their enormous wealth continuously hope for a bright and better future. their president often campaigns under that notion.
i, personally, never stopped thinking the future in Somalia will someday be bright. but having said that, i am not ready to get my hopes waaaaaay up, yet.

exactly my thoughts. the intentions of the international community really don't matter, the fact somalia is on the agenda is good for somalia.Murax wrote:I think its obvious that the International Community for better or worse is taking a interest in Somalia for the first time in ages.
