Save me the faux outrage :-@
David Rawson, the U.S. deputy chief of mission in Somalia from 1986 to 1988, says he has been puzzled why Samantar, of all Somali officials of that era, is the one being sued. Real power, he says, was concentrated in President Siad Barre and a small group of his clan members.

“Samantar was so far out of the decision-making loop,” Rawson says. “But Samantar comes from a small clan. There’s no political cost to going after someone vulnerable like that, as opposed to going after someone who comes from a significant family or important clan.”

Keep pretending he was Adolf Eichmann to Hitler or some sh1t

Look, lets be logical...name anyone high ranking ex Somali official living in the US or Canada....Do you know what happened to TUKE guy, he was chased out of Canada, was he from a small clan?...How about the other dude that was chased from Canada and who fled to California and was also under presocution who then died....Lets be real bro...call a spade a spade....This man should've quit if he had no tangible power..He enjoyed been on power and now he will pay the price...

Gen Samatar did his job and duty which was to defend, protect, and uphold the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the security of the Somali State. A minority camp from a rebellion that took arms against their country might try to abuse his good name and misuse US courts for selective justice but if there is one thing the trial has taught us it is the overwhelming majority of Somalis including their voices in the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia support the man and his defense.

Because of the duration of the trial, the finances incurred, and his old age and failing health he was forced to abandon his righteous fight of total exoneration and instead give a default admission of "liability" which does not mean admission of guilt in order to close the trial. Here are the former rebels complaining:
Another plaintiff...said he felt cheated by the default judgment, as Samantar could walk out of court without hearing the victims’ testimony.
If Samantar was younger, with good health, and from a more prominent clan with enough "qaaraan" money for a trial, this discussion would not even be taking place. Still, Gen. Samantar has taken a befitting plea that both removes guilt from him as well as recognizes that negativity of the rebel-led war against the government. Go back to your perches and try going after someone that will give you a ran for your money.

What good families and monied Somali people are you talking about? Please name surnames! I don't know a single Somali family with Rockafella money! The ones who have like seven working children and two working parents seem solidly middle class at best.
