The single largest resource discovery this century, and perhaps ever, is currently taking place along the fault-line that stretches from Mozambique to Somalia on the Indian Ocean floor. They're talking about a figure in oil and gas wealth that has already entered the trillions of dollars in value, and is at its infancy in exploration. Exploration began in Mozambique, and is now in Tanzania, and quickly finding its way into Somalia.

...but Waqoyians have zero access to the Indian Ocean. :| :| :|

If what has been said so far is true (because there are alot of uncertainities and hype ) there will be a spill-over to all somalis irrespective of where. Besides, the scramble for resources will perhaps result in the discovery of other resources in all over somalia. War and weak institutions might turn any strides made in natural resource exploration into a curse. Let us pray that that will not happen

Its fine, all this bullshid about oil only benefitting certain regions doesn't make sense. The rich ass Saudi in Jeddah on the Western coast of the Country, doesn't wonder where the oil money came from. Reer Waqooyi if they are a part of Somalia will benefit just as much.

Somali wealth should not benefit only few regions...I would not be happy with a luxuries cities while Somalis are suffering waa xasidnimo...even if they became a state of their own we must not be content with a certain while Somalis are not doing: those statement is a reply to monks scenario not the reality.

ok a little exaggeration but still yes.

The costs of political entanglement with somalia which will not be stable for the next 10 to 20 years is far more than whatever oil money can be tossed our way.

and i believe monk was reffering to the potential oil off the coast of kismayo, we are happy with our gulf of aden reserves..
so thank you.
