The year 2012 is shaping up to be one that ends warlordism and dugsi-ist political Mis-managements. New parties have popped up that are being led by educated individuals of whom some of them hold multiple degrees. The notable ones that are worth mentioning as of far are as listed below but not limited to:
Democratic Party of Somalia (DPS) = Maslah Mohamed Siyaad Barre
Hiil Qaran (HQ) = Pro. A. Samatar
Tayo = Farmajo
Peace & Development Party (PDP) = Hassan Sheikh
Now the question is, Will they be based on principles and ideologies or will they become elitist run by one man?

Re: Political Parties
@ the end of the day most ppl will base their votes and allegiance on tribal affiliations with front runners, not parties. They will vote for the nearest guy clan-wise. A good example is Djibouti elections. Many ppl in Bosaso were glued on their TV screens all nite rooting for Siad Barre's son (I forgot his first name) against Sheikh Sharif. I asked a group why so and they all said he is closer to us. It is like that on all corners of the country. Somalis believe the man @ the helm will give his clan advantages over others. The ONLY common denominator Somalis have at this time is tribe - not faith or other other believes.

Re: Political Parties
It’s been customary for our people to support the man at the helm due to kin relativity in the past 20 years or so. This would not change overnight, and would require special circumstances to take place to change the attitude of the people. It would require a lot of conditioning to rehabilitate the minds of those affected. The competing parties are that special circumstance we have been waiting, as they are less driven by clan politics and more so ideology. To my knowledge of the above mentioned parties none is dominated by a single clan nor do they seek to benefit one clan over the other. The individuals leading them did not partake in the civil unrest which in our book is a big PLUS. I so much believe that our people including us in the Diasporas are ripe mentally to accept and differentiate the educated & the retards (qabilists) that are freely roaming in the current political arena.
