Only if Sharif Ahmed names the Port of Mogadishu, "General Maxamed Farah Caydiid International Port"

It would be a fitting tribute to the man who ended Marxism in Somalia.

Other national symbols that should be named:

Abdirashid Ali Sharma'arke International Airport/Port - Bosaaso

Zoope International Airport - Baydhaba

Ahmed Cumar Jees Airport - Wajiid

Ahmed Diriye International Airport - Cadaado

Sayid Maxamed Abdille Xasan International Airport - Kismayo

Sheik Ali Jimcaale International Airport - Beletweyne

Maxamed Siyaad Barre International Airport - Gabarharrey

Boqor Olol Dinle Airport - Bulo Xawo

awahab, Aidid had a golden opportunity to sustain and expand his power. Was it lack of leadership or bad advisors?

Bad timing:

1. January 1991 - World attention diverted to Gulf War - Somalia ignored which made recognition of the coup difficult.

2. December 1992 - After the conclusion of all major fighting in Somalia, UN intervention occurs just when Aidid's power was at its peak and the intervention breathes life into his weakened enemies.

3. 1993- wars with UNOSOM & US

4. 1995 - UNOSOM and US leave

If there was no foreign intervention, Aidid would have been supreme leader because his alliance defeated all major opponents who were broken and ready to make peace.

The SNA and UIC were successful but both had their victories destroyed by foreign forces.

tnx awahab. I thought ali mahdi's claim to the throne and subsequent ali/aidid war were the most major setbacks.

if only wanting something to happen would make it happen, I would like the distric of columbia named after my great grand father, but that aint gonna happen. same thing for this.
