Imitation for what? Oil? Did you start oil? Did you even have a single successful well anywhere in your territory? Suppose I was copying Monk about oil information in Somalia, does that take away from the information presented? Does it negate any of the facts? I actually think you are just being a big jealous baby because you are staring to realize shouting the loudest doesn't always mean the most lucky.

The reason why I have never responded to a single topic you pen or even contributed to is because you always struck me as the intellectually most deficient Majerten on this site. You are above all a reactionary without a single intellectual depth or has shown any remarkable or even tangible sign of intelligence. You are the individual whose biggest boast in this form is "I was a Puntland militia". Your biggest accomplishment is being a third world African child soldier?

I let you troll me once and I think you started to think you have some sort of a space to freely opine with respect to my topics of interest. Don't fool yourself.

Why does this topic even bother you so much? This is like the third time you follow a topic like this with your usual predictable "copying Puntland" crap. Caqli xumaa, ma aabahay baa saliid sameeyey?

Cinque, you guys are starting to sound jealous wallahi. I am reaching for it? Tell me if Voltage has brought information or has produced that information? I have not added anything to information about oil and Somalia, I have only disclosed it. Gedo is in the most insecure environment in Somalia so obviously there aren't opportunities for drilling or investment such as in Puntland, but that doesn't negate fact about unexploited resources.

"Voltage" hasn't reached for anything, by saying that you show your problem is with the material non of which was produced by Voltage. Considering nothing has been uncovered by Puntland drilling so far, I am not surprised you guys sound very resentful.

Kenya: Block 1 partners Afren and Lion Petroleum commence 1800 km 2D seismic program

12 Mar 2012

Lion Petroleum has announced that its partner Afren has started the acquisition of 1800 km of 2D seismic in Block 1, north-eastern Kenya. This is a key step in the exploration of Block 1, which has not seen exploration activity since approx. 1990. The seismic crew first entered the area in late November, 2011. After building the seismic camp and logistical preparations, recording of new seismic data has now commenced.

The purpose of the new seismic is to delineate exploration prospects for drilling during 2013. Depending on rate of acquisition, the 1800 km survey should be completed during the third quarter of 2012. The partnership is utilising real-time field processing and interpretation of the new data.

Block 1 occupies over 31,781 sq kms (7.8 million acres) in the Mandera Lugh basin, which extends north into Ethiopia where it is known as the Ogaden basin. Lion has a 50 per cent (50%) working interest and is carried through the first 600 km of seismic expected to cost approx. US$6 million gross, by Afren, the operator, which farmed-into the licence. In the first half of 2011, the partnership acquired airborne gravity and magnetic data to define the major basin geometry and to plan the new seismic.

There is clear evidence of a working petroleum system in the basin. The well-known Tarbaj oil seep is located in the south-west portion of Block 1. In Ethiopia, close to the Block 1 border, the El Kuran 1 & 2 wells drilled by Tenneco in 1972 encountered oil; an offset exploration well is expected to be drilled later this year by Africa Oil. To the west of El Kuran, the Genale oil seep occurs on the basin flank. Further north, the basin is gas productive from the Hilal and Calub fields, which also have light oil.

Block 1 presents a very exciting exploration opportunity. Lion is pleased that the recording of the new 2D seismic has now commenced, and looks forward to defining multiple drill targets from the interpretation of the seismic, leading to exploration drilling.

I find it amazing that we are actually in the eye of the hurricane right now and why did the hurricane finally form when Kenya brought boots into Jubbaland? :?

Two other take away for reer Sade.

-1 The tract Kenya awarded as Block 1 fits exactly into the US Geological survey of Kenya's part in the oil basin between Kenya and Gedo with most of it in Gedo.
-2 The actual discovery prior to Kenya this week was in southern Ethiopia near the border of Gedo part of the area Ethiopian recently awarded as a parliamentary representation for Marehan under "Dhekasuftu" name.

The more research is done the more you realize we have to get up soon.
