Re: SOMALIA BETTER OFF STATELESS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could see why he would make such claims, but in reality he is way of, and is trying to justify his ideology using somalia as an example. If he really wanted to compare somalia vs somalia without a state. he would have used the somalia pre- siad bare (1960-1970), instead he compares the dictatorship somalia (1970-1991) with the lawless one. He also has an air of arrogance as though he is educating children when in reality he is trying to find cause and affect, of two relationships that are disjoint.
the democratic republic of Somalia =/= the oppressive dictatorship of siad bare.
I could go into to detail dismissing every claim he made but that wouldn't change the fact that the man is lacking background knowledge on somalia and is focusing on a small snippet of what is now known as somalia. He also doesnt address the issue of a central government in puntland and somaliland which I would assume contribute a large number of the positive post siad bare improvements, and a case could be made that both these regions have a central government and are not lawless.
so in reality yes some part of somalia are better of post siad bare
but somalia (the democratic republic of somalia) 1960-1970 was much better off on all statistical fronts than the current situation on the ground.
siad barre was a very nationalistic man but he was also very primitive, he spent most of his life in service and did not see the politics around him he didnt know that he had made somalia a battle ground between to world powers. he didnt know the arabs aid (5 years of free oil) was actually a ploy to keep somalias vast oil wealth in the ground , so as to not compete with them, he rushed into the 1977 war, he didnt deal with the SNM rebels as a bunch of traitors but instead targeted the whole clans, he didnt see the corruption of his clansmen. he was too trusting and was very ignorant of world a fairs, I suspect that if the late great president of Somalia's life wants ended soo uprightly he would have made somalia and African superpower and later a world power.
