Puntland vs Somaliland rivalry: reason for their success?

Post by qadafi83 »

I'm basically repeating Jared Diamond’s argument in Guns, Germs, and Steel, as to why Europe was more successful in the early modern period than China. Institutional barriers can allow for more experimentation, development, and prevent ''irrational herds'' from taking the whole system into dead-ends. Federalism with many competing mini-states is the way to go for Somalia.

You are not getting it. There is a reason why Europeans colonised half of the world and not the Chinese. Apply this logic to Somalia and you will see that the two most competing regions also happen to be the most successful.

We do not compete.we only had issues about the borders but that's over now with the creation of khatumo!
We are 2 different entities SL an independent republic and PL a state of Somalia basically 2 different political
goals so how can we have a rivalry :?

That is false and you know that. Whatever Somaliland does, Puntland will always try to do it better. Livestock export in Berbera vs Bosaso is an excellent example.

Originally Berbera was way more important than Bosaso, but now it's the other way around.
