One thing i noticed about the Merexaan tribal Family

Post by Khalid Ali »

Is that they hardly marry from other clans soon you will be you're own Homogeneous tribe i have yet to see a Merexaan with a hawiye reer abti or rahanweyn reer abti or is it me and are they lying even on snet . Since they are the darods who live in the far south of Somalia For Example in my life i have been two 15 Merexaan weddings out of those 15 weddings only two were with outside clans one was with a gadabuursi and one with Majeerten all the other 13 aroos were Merexaan Merexaan guursanaya is this a new trend ? One would think if they live in the most diverse part of Somalia multicultural bay iska noqon lahayeen.

hello there brother, what I would like to know is what you were doing in 13 exclusive Mareexaan weddings ? I know for a fact you do not have any Mareexaan blood or in-laws, marka why are you lying.

as for your question, Mareexaan does intermarry with other Somalis, but we are very old tribe, it is like saying Kablalax, marka of course we intermarry a lot within ourselves, more so recently than before.

I agree. I would say about 90% of Marehan I have seen have Marehan reer abti and the one clan that Marehan intermarry with the absolute most, bar none, is Ogaadeen.

For Example:

My Dad = Marehan
My Mom = Marehan

Dad's Dad =Marehan
Dad's Mom = Marehan

Mom's Dad = Marehan
Mom's Mom = Marehan

Well if thats true than do you know why that is? I'm just asking because I'm Ogaden and we're pretty much the opposite. I have several family members from different qabils. Don't you think you guys are limiting yourselves?

I am the offspring of Marexaan-Ogaaden.

I have some cousins who are the offsprings of others as well. Especially my family which has a lot of mixed tribes. But the greater majority is marexaan/marexaan, and the greater majority of my mom's side is ogadeen/ogadeen

As for the most diverse marriages, I think the Ogaden are the most lenient when it comes to that category.

My habaryar (maqaabul) married a hawiye, while my Aayo is Hawiye (murursade). My bigger brother recently married an Ashraf sister as well.

P.s. Shirib I would like to marry a Rahanweyn girl but they seem hard to find?

I have met a lot of Mareexaans that have married into all kinds of qabiils. Almost every Mareexaan lady that I know in my city is married to Hawiye or other Daaroods. From my understanding, Mareexaans traditionally married Majerteens (especially Cumar Maxamuuds and Reer Biciidyahan), Ogaadeens and Haber Gidir.

As for me, my dad, granddad, great-grand, great-great-granddad, etc. all the way to Diini and further never married Mareexaan women. And I will continue that tradition.
