Have you read the entire Quran in a language you UNDERSTAND?
In my experience I have found that the majority of Somalis (even those who pray five times a day, every day, on time and entirely in Arabic) have NEVER read the entire Quran for themselves in a language they understand. Therefore, their religion is more of a compulsion to their upbringing or to what the majority do.
It would be interesting to see how many people here have actually read the entire Quran in a language they understand and have ascertained for themselves that it is a message from God that they have chosen to follow out of their own free will.

This thread should get interesting.

You are an Arab though, so it makes it much easier. However, from personal experience I can tell that most Somali youth in the West never read the Quran entirely.hyperactive wrote:i voted yes. when i was younger at least every week one from cover to cover, now 3 times evry month.

You're asking quite a lot in a single post.
To answer your first question, yes.

Good topic i think reading the quran is not a problem for me, but what i found challanging is tafseer.
For example, i set my self a goal to complete the entire quran with tafseer once in my life so far i have i managad 113 surah only 1 surah remaining of reaching my goal.
please make me dua as i feel shaydaan and laziness is getting me in the way.
it is very bad habit something you have started and not finishing off.

Thats a good question wallahi. I've read the whole Quran many times but I have yet to read a full translation of it. A surah or 2 that I would be reading, yes, but not all 114 surahs.
But in my defense Arabic is like my 3rd language so its not like I completely have no idea what a particular ayah would mean.

I just finished reading it completely for the first time recently, and I must say it's a rather complex book and you end up cross-referencing/looking up interpretations of complex verses a lot (so it might take much longer than you would initially expect).
What surprised me the most was that some Muslim practices aren't even explicitly stated in the Quran.
