Exactly. Somalis work best under a more "libertarian" system. My clan takes care of my shit and your clan takes care of your shit. All Somalia needs is a rule of law, proper order and things would be perfect.

Interesting. The old constitution just stated that citizenship would be established by law. Any one know this law?

Anyways, I am on the fence regarding this provision. On the one hand a lot of Somalis have acquired foreign citizenship through this means. We should reciprocate in certain instances.

However, this article (if that is indeed the whole article) is unduly wide. Even the British law dealing with citizenship by birth restricts it to ''a child born in the UK to a parent who is a British citizen or 'settled' in the UK''.

We're practically giving it away.

Sidenote: It would be a pisstake if citizens of African and Arab countries (Who have tended to restrict the acquisition of their citizenship) could just give birth to Somali children in Somalia.
We might not currently have much but it's the principle.

UM actually now that you mentioned it, having a lot Africans or whoever else would dilute the qabiil issue. You'd have the Somali Somalis and everyone else. Maybe it'd be a good thing because truth be told we have more land than we know what to do with.

Well if does being a citizen mean u have more rights and benefits e.g. free education and health care? If yes all Africa will be moving to Somalia not good for a poor country and knowing how they have treated us its wrong , qof walba see kula dhaqantaa loola dhaqmaa. Before, being “Somali” made you a citizen and that too was not fair because u could be from djobouti, Ogaden or NFD.
