it has been mentioned in the yemen zaidet history sources that the hawiye clan was weeping over the death of al imam al hadi yahya bin hussain the imam of the zaidete imamate of yemen.
ibnu batuta says the inhabitents of zeila were a mix of rafida(SHIA) and shafia.
the sheekhaal clan aw xasan, aw mahdi were breaching zaidia in somalia but they fall because of the sunni influenced sufism qadiria later on.

gaandaarshah was preaching ismailiyah, the ajuran ruling family had very close relationship with safavite family of persia.
succatra island is the only zaidet shia in the horn.

Ibn Batuta mentions this too on his visit to Zeila in the 14th century

ibnu batuta was in zaila, berbera in
1331.
he then took the road to mogadisho. the arabs first would land at zaila as rejectors( rafida) then some would go to harrar, if they are after wealth and trade they would go to mogadisho, marka, barawa, mumbasa. he has been visiting all thes cities.
