Going Hargeisa this Summer !

Assalamu caleykum,

Im going Hergeisa this summer first time since i left when i was 6 years old, im 23 now so its been a long time. What is there to do ? what places should i avoid ? whats the food like ?

Im planning to stay a while around 6 months inshallah. Im gonnah try and master Somali while im there(before you start laughing i can speak pretty fluently, just writing is non-existant), anyone know any legit places to study. Or should i just pay one guy to come to my house.

Any suggestions would be good.

So do i just go up to the uni and sign up,looks intresting. Dont worry im prepared to get dissed lol. But isnt poetry a bit advanced, i want to go through the basics then move up.

Yeah just go to the Uni and sign up they'll ask you for a high school diploma only. If you want to learn to read and write somali go the UNCHR they teach somali classes to oromos for free or just take classes at home and pay a teacher

I would say hire a macalin who will give u private tutoring, in 6 months you will be an expert. I heard of ciyaal dhaqan celis becoming xaafid in no time

Read Somali newspapers and Somali websites.
That's how I became fluent in reading/writing Somali.

Just take the buss have a talk with the locals its so fun u will enjoy like maxa ka galay especially the buss that comes from Jigjiga yar all the way to Suuqa hoose.
I hardly take the car when i am in hargeysa i like walking or with the buss, what else you can do is to on a trip to salaxay u will love that two southern hargeysa is beautiful place.
