Outstanding leaders: open thread No Qabyaalad

Post by Adali »

Here is my list of big players in the Horn from the very beginning to present.

1. Amir Abadir founder of Harar, the fourth holy city of Islam.
2. Boqor Mohamed Daud first Darood King and founder of Ximan kingdom.
3. Amir Ahmed Gurey founder of Adel empire and first conqueror of Abyssinia.
4. Amir Nur second conqueror of Abyssinia and reestablished Harar as the "Walled city".
5. Hirabu General commanding Somalis who took part in the conquests of Abyssinia.
6. Ugas Diini, unfortunately there is no chronicled history of Ugas Diini, the oral history of certain events I know of but it need confirmation and his oral history needs to be recorded and collected, along with any external records. From what I have heard he is a very important character, the Marehan Ugas line runs for 13 generation and Ugas Diini stands out the most. his direct descendants include:
7. President Major General Mohamed Siyad Barre, 3rd conqueror of Abyssinia and the longest ruling Somali President and father of the Somali revolutionary period of Kacaan(our own little industrialization period).
8.Shire Jaamac Axmed, father of the Somali script. Which influenced and prompted development of culture, music, arts, education, news etc etc it was still Kacaan, but this particular man was the source for what we may consider our own version of the European renaissance.
9. Sayid Mohamed Abdulle Hassan, founder Taleex and the Daraawiish resistance movement which pushed a world super power(British empire) to use drastic tactics such using planes in Africa for the first time dropping chemical and explosive bombs by hand onto us in Taleex.

the last man on my list is gonna have to be Farmaajo, this man is not following the cow tracks, he is making new tradition and creating his own tracks to be followed, he is also the most popular Somali currently and has the potential to become the most well known Somali to have ever existed if he continues this way, although Siyaad Barre will not be easy to beat, our young Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo by the time he is in his 60s haduu ilahay yeelo could very well be the most well known Somali figure in Politics.

1 to 9, i agree with you.

As of Farmajo's case, i'll reserve my judgement on him but so far as you mentioned he is paving his own path.

I'm pretty sure there is chemical component somewhere in there.

If it goes bang or kaboom, then pretty much chemestry is the core principal.

I nominate whomever in the history of Somalia has been the leader with whom everybody was okay .
Aadan Cabdullah Cosmaan .

By the time Somalia gained its independence in 1960, Daar had attained widespread prominence as a nationalist figure. In short order, he was elected the country's first President, a position he would assume from 1960 to 1967.[3] Fellow SYL member Haji Bashir Ismail Yusuf would serve as the first President of the Somali National Assembly.[4]

In the 1967 presidential election, Daar was defeated by Abdirashid Ali Shermarke, his former Prime Minister. His term as president ended on June 10, 1967. Daar accepted the loss graciously, making history as the first leader in Africa to peacefully hand over power to a democratically elected successor.[3]

My impression of this thread is ---> For the daarood , only another daarood can be considered a leader.{smh} .
Thanks for specifying that this thread should remain Qabiil free  , impossible with your people buddy !

Post 1960.

Leaders that are universally respected:

Prime Minister Maxamed Xaaji Ibraahim Cigaal
President Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke
Prime Minister Abdirazak Haji Hussein
President Aadan Cabdulle Cismaan Daar
Prime Minister Cabdallahi Ciise

Others have their ups and downs.

For example.

Siyaad Barre lead Somalia for 21 years through inhumane practices and institutionalized qabilism while at the same time fighting against it. However he created one of the strongest African states, the 2nd largest military after Egypt in the 1970s and oversaw reforms in the education and health sector that truly elevated Somalia to a whole new level.

Abdullahi Yusuf lead Somalia through a civil war and oversaw the invasion by a foreign force but he also fought the same Islamists that wreck havoc in Mogadishu today before anyone else and warned about them in 1991. His governing was in a dictatorial style and had good political skills. But he was most talented as a military leader.

If we look into other areas such as police and military, we have General Caynaashe, General Daud, General Abshir Muse, General Ali Samatar.
