How much does building a small/medium sized modern port cost horta? i know it is the government's job especially the minister of ports to finance such projects but i really think we(regarding my kins) should build a port of our own in the Sanaag coast preferably Maydh or our other coastal settlements after finishing the Hargeysa-Oodweyne-Burco road inshallah. With the amount of wealthy entrepreneurs and large diaspora i don't see what is getting in the way to kick-start this project other than few corrupt individuals that are not honest for their tasks, it would be advantageous boost to the eastern and western Garhajis economy and the wider Somaliland. It is also noteworthy to remember during the 80s and 90s it was the small dock of Maydh that served for the military needs of alot of the SNM freedom fighters in the east by enabling them to dock down light/medium weapons to fight the dictatorial SNA, imagine how advantageous a modern port can be for that region whether in the military or business aspect.

As you said this is a matter for the Somaliland community in Europe or Nothern America. Sanaag could become a self sufficient region if the Siilaanyo govt steps up and invests in the region. they have to look further than Maroodi Jeex, and stop money wasting projects like renovating Cigaal international airport if the airport it's self is doing fine. Good start is the Burco - Ceerigaabo road as the roads that connects Galbeed with Sanaag are kinda shitty. A port at Xiis or Maydh would benefit the people of Sanaag as everything has to come from Galbeed.
A small efficient airport for Ceerigaabo would be great as well. Imagine the Somaliland diaspora who need to pay a visit to eastern Somaliland, Ceerigaabo, Ceelafweyn or Garadag or any village or town in Sanaag. They have to land at Berbera or Hargeysa and drive all the way to Sanaag, kinda stressfull as the land is huge.
As the airstrip is already there:

Re: The building of new ports in Somaliland
With the current development rate of the adminstration what makes you think all this projects are feasible to be funded by the government? the money being used to build Hargeysa and Berbera airports was provided by Kuwait. The Hargeysa-Oodweyne-Burco project is mainly driven by locals, diaspora, business people, likewise the road between Hargeysa-Sallaxley and Hargeysa-Baligubadle. It is the people who are mostly behind all this projects, got to give it to them.
The Ceerigaabo-Burco road can also be kick-started somehow though the inhabitants of those areas of Sanaag and Togdheer seem divided on that matter, it could be feasible for the people backhome and diaspora to entirely unite on the Maydh port project rather than the latter.
A medium sized port like this.

Re: The building of new ports in Somaliland
i got ma eye on a nice stretch of coast west of las qoray, about 15km should do.
a road through the mountains to jidali (25km), then west to cerigabo. from there south to xudun via our dominions in sannag, then las anod.
i reckon with our oil money it will be feasible.
