Since the question was directed to ustaag Lamgoodle & I am sure he'll narrate his version of the story behind this but I think I heard an interview he gave to BBC, the Somali branch, back in late 90's (may be around 2000) saying it was about a girl he loved & her family rejected him because of qabyaalad.

Deep and powerful lyrics right there. I am assuming he's talking about how after the relationship has blossomed into something beautiful and sent a delegation of odayaal to the girl's family so they could give their daughter to Abdi Tahliil, the odayaal were sent back empty handed and were told a madhibaan man will never marry her.

But then he says:

abaal daraneey hadaad...

Which looks like he is addressing it to the woman herself. So, did the woman side with her family in refusing to marry him when she found out he was midgaan?

Abdi Tahliil was once asked about his favourite song and he chose ugaaso because he said it is a true story that happened to him that he will never forget.

I think that's the reason he was refused the girl. Typical stupid Somali mentality! And today they are marrying men that have no association with us through blood, culture, religion & race.
