Romantic Somali fantasies
This is not a clan thread. Mods, if anyone tries to bring up any discriminatory remarks about other clans please delete their post.
Okay so I'm thinking of making a series of short stories for you guys sort of like my first one (Dervish fantasy). They will all be historical and I'd appreciate it if someone could give me some good sources on historical Somali kingdoms so I could do some more research.
They may also have different clans for your amusement.
For example:
1. A cold handsome Ogaden warrior who captures a lovely Dhulbahante girl in revenge against her father for the death of his brother. (happens during the Dervish era)
2. A Gadabuursi prince from Adal who falls for an exquisite Hawadle girl while escaping an assassination attempt made by his twin brother. (happens during the Adal Sultanate)
3. A gorgeous Geri Kombe mercenary who comes back to his homeland after many years abroad and rescues a stunning Habar Awal girl from an assault only to discover that her father is the next man he has been paid to assassinate (happens during the Ifat Sultanate)
4. A handsome Habar Yoonis warrior from the north who travels south and kidnaps a ravishingly beautiful Rahaweyn princess from the Geledi kingdom in order to use her fathers army to battle against his step father who is trying to take a away his claim to rule. (happens during the Geledi sultanate)
You guys can up with your own clan scenarios for me to incorporate into my stories. Just make sure they're from 2 different clans and please don't be offensive.

Fair enough, Cilmi Boodhari is a character in one of the greatest Somali stories. (which is true story btw)Aasli wrote:I wish I was considering your reaction, now kindly spare me any further embarrassment and answer the question.
Re: Romantic Somali fantasies
Why even add qabiil? Look at every major Western fantasy writer, they write in a way that unites the west, remember 'Men of the West' in Lord of the Rings? Westeros in a Game of thrones?
You will have a greater audience if you delete qabiil, which doesn't add anything to a story other than disintergrating Somalis, and if you somehow can't write a decent story without the mention of qabiil, then atleast keep it on the periphery. This is fantasy fiction, right? Escapism? Then write something different, if the average Somali wants to read about qabiil, love and politics, they can just click on hundreds of Somali websites on the net.

Re: Romantic Somali fantasies
It's a nice idea in theory lakin how much offense you cause will depend on any mention of romantic interludes, stolen kiss...remember Somali men and women don't even walk down the street holding hands. The heroine's qabiil will be particularly worse off becuase you would be indirectly calling their women loose.
Re: Romantic Somali fantasies
Just stop, this makes you and Xalimos in general look extremelly horny
If you really want to do it then do so in a private section of the forum which won't be seen by the whole world.
